Throughout these Terms and Conditions, Wawacar Rent a Car may be referred to as “Wawacar,” “the Company,” “the Lessor,” or “we.” The individual making the reservation or renting the vehicle shall be referred to as “the Customer,” “the Renter,” “the Lessee,” or “you.”
By making a reservation, completing a payment, signing a rental agreement, taking possession of a vehicle, or using any service provided by Wawacar Rent a Car, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and accepted these Terms and Conditions.
These Terms apply to reservations made through our website, telephone, email, social media, travel agencies, business partners, or any other authorized booking channel.
Wawacar Rent a Car provides temporary vehicle rental services within the Dominican Republic.
Vehicle delivery and return services may be available at authorized locations including:
- Las Américas International Airport (Santo Domingo)
- Cibao International Airport (Santiago)
- Punta Cana International Airport
- La Romana International Airport
Additional locations may be available upon request and are subject to operational availability and additional charges.
To rent a vehicle, customers must satisfy Wawacar’s rental requirements, including but not limited to:
- Meeting the minimum rental age established by Wawacar.
- Presenting a valid driver’s license.
- Presenting a valid passport or government-issued identification.
- Providing an acceptable payment method.
- Meeting all identity verification requirements.
- Accepting these Terms and Conditions.
- Complying with the traffic laws of the Dominican Republic.
Wawacar reserves the right to refuse any rental when these requirements are not met or when fraud, misuse or security concerns are reasonably suspected.
All reservations are subject to vehicle availability.
While Wawacar will make every reasonable effort to provide the reserved vehicle category, we do not guarantee a specific vehicle make, model, color or license plate unless expressly confirmed in writing.
When necessary, Wawacar may provide a vehicle of similar or higher category at no additional charge.
Customers are responsible for reviewing the accuracy of their reservation details before confirming the booking.
Rental charges may be paid in:
- Dominican Pesos (DOP)
- United States Dollars (USD)
The final rental amount may include applicable taxes, airport fees, optional protection products, additional drivers, delivery fees, fuel services, tolls, and any other applicable charges.
Accepted payment methods may include Visa®, Mastercard® and other payment methods approved by Wawacar.
A refundable security deposit may be required before the vehicle is released.
The amount of the security deposit depends on several factors including:
- Vehicle category
- Rental duration
- Protection package selected
- Customer profile
- Payment method
- Operational risk assessment
The security deposit may be processed through:
- Credit card authorization
- Debit card authorization where applicable
- Temporary hold
- Other approved financial methods
The security deposit may be applied toward unpaid obligations including, but not limited to:
- Vehicle damages
- Missing fuel
- Traffic violations
- Toll charges
- Lost keys
- Lost vehicle documents
- Additional cleaning
- Smoking violations
- Administrative fees
- Late return charges
- Loss of use
- Insurance deductibles
- Any unpaid rental balance
The release of the security deposit depends exclusively on the customer’s issuing bank or financial institution.
Only the customer listed in the rental agreement and any additional drivers approved by Wawacar may operate the rental vehicle.
Each additional driver must:
- Present a valid driver’s license.
- Present valid identification.
- Meet Wawacar’s rental requirements.
If the vehicle is driven by an unauthorized person, the customer shall remain fully responsible for any damages, claims, liabilities, losses, expenses, legal costs or insurance exclusions resulting from such unauthorized use.
